Globally, postnatal depression (PND) is a growing public health problem. PND affects 10 to 15% of women in Western society. It caused by a combination of biological, psychological and social factors. Two models have attempted to define and explain PND; the biomedical and the sociological models. The traditional biomedical model views PND as a medical condition which implies there is individual pathology and abnormality. Whilst the biomedical model has been the dominant model in treating PND, it has been criticized by feminist sociologists and psychologists for its rigidity in defining and explaining PND. In contrast, the psychosocial model of health acknowledges the biological factors that impact on emotional well-being, but places more emphasis on the personal and social factors that impact on emotional well-being, but places more emphasis on the personal and social factors that contribute to depressive symptoms such as gender, poverty, social disadvantage and social class. The central argument throughout this book is the importance of support before and after the birth for women`s emotional well-being. I took an equate (wal-mart brand) pregnancy test today, I followed all the instructions accurately held it in my urine stream for the appropriate amount of time an such. But the dye didn't even begin to move across the test until about 7 mins had passed and it took 5 more mins after that for the control line to appear all in all by the time all the dye had finished moving across the test it had been almost 15 mins. The result was negative (which completely disappeared within the hour). the instruction booklet indicated that if no lines appear after 4 mins the test is invalid but at the same time i did eventually get a result. I'm about 8 dpo should I test again or what has anyone else had this happen?

I am 37 weeks and two days. I have had terrible time with varicose veins in the vulva area that make it painful to walk at times, usually I have to limp around. It's a tone of pressure when I'm standing or walking and I'm used to being on the go. It hurts more and more as the day goes on. This pregnancy I've started to have veins that hurt and have a lot of pressure in the back of my thigh too. I have 2 girls 4 and 2 1/2 so it's hard to stay off my feet during the day, they keep me busy. I hate being in this pain. My doctor said the she could induce me when I am 39 1/2 weeks. I was induced with my 2nd daughter on her due date. I just feel a little guilty b/c the baby is fine, and everything seems to be going great, it's just me that's in terrible pain at times.
Inducing you within days of your due date is pointless, it really won't help you now. You might have to ask the doctor to do it sooner rather then later because your health is just as important as the baby, if your in pain then they need to do something other then telling you to wait. 37 weeks is full term anyway.
BTW someone posted something about c-sections are painful and the truth is that they aren't bad at all, I've had cramps with more pain, you don't feel anything but pressure (usually they just do a epi or a spinal), they sew you up and give you pain medication (that is safe for both mom and baby if breastfeeding) and you spend 1 more day in the hospital that's it. This isn't something I was told, I had one

I have one of those breeder things where she goes in the top and the babies go into the bottom of it. Can I put her in there now even if I am not sure she is ready to give birth? How long can I leave her in there? does it stress her out? Please help .
Breeding nets or cages are extremely stressful to the fish. You are much better off to just leave her in the tank and let her have her fry there. The survival rate for fry is no better by trapping them than it is to just let them be.

I live in Texas and we make a decent living , nothing to very high. We have no health insurance at all, and none available at my husbands work. He has no benefits of any kind. My son whom is 8 receives CHIPS Medical care. I thought the income level was very low to qualify for pregnancy Medicaid under ($2,000 a month), Texas does have CHIPS prenatel program also. Just curious what the limits are income wise for the pregnancy Medicaid if you dont mind? Do you have a idea of the income limits?
