The Operation Primer provides excellent photographic step-by-step guidance to the surgical procedure. It has been produced to describe the operation in the simplest manner possible without over-simplifying. A dramatic and worldwide increase is occurring in the prevalence of overweight and obesity in women of childbearing age. Obese women carry a significant excess risk of a variety of serious complications during pregnancy, and in addition, maternal obesity predisposes to obesity in the offspring. This book provides a timely update on the latest knowledge on maternal obesity and pregnancy. A very wide range of issues are covered, including macrosomia and associated shoulder dystocia; the risk of miscarriage, malformations, and complications of pregnancy; the impact of hyperglycemia; clinical management; consequences for anesthesia and ultrasound; impacts on breastfeeding, fertility, and childhood obesity; and pregnancy following gastric surgery. All of the authors are recognized experts in their fields, and the book has been designed to meet the practical needs of obstetricians, gynecologists, internists, and general practitioners.
The purpose of this work is to provide a general and comprehensive reference work on the biology of gastric cancers for those researchers working in this area. This monograph will be written by a panel of experts in each area and represent the latest work in a series of different areas of gastric cancer research.
Gastric adenocarcinoma is the second most common cancer worldwide. It is usually diagnosed at a late stage and prognosis is poor; even with modern diagnostic and treatment methods the 5-year survival is only 10%. Improvements in overall patient survival can only be achieved by earlier diagnosis and by tailored therapeutic strategies based on tumor type, location and stage at presentation. This volume provides a state-of-the-art, integrated diagnostic and therapeutic approach to patient management. The role of the upper GI series, endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, MDCT, MRI, and PET/CT in the diagnosis, staging and follow-up of patients with gastric cancer is emphasized. The relative strengths and limitations of these diagnostic examinations will be presented in context with the most recent epidemiologic, pathologic, and therapeutic concepts regarding this tumor. With expert contributions from members of an international multidisciplinary team, this is an invaluable guide to the diagnosis and management of gastric malignancies.

When high-school junior Ashley Salazar learned she was pregnant, she immediately started a blog to document the difficult, life-altering experience. Little did she know how life-altering it would actually be. Later, she applied online to be considered for the cast of MTV’s hit show 16 & Pregnant. The show responded quickly and her story will be told as the season 2 finale in a special 90-minute episode aired in December 2010. Her memoir takes the viewer further back and further forward, and chronicles the tortured indecision she faces as she decides whether its best for her baby to give her up for adoption or take the dramatic step toward motherhood.
In a virtuosic return to form, Martin Amis revisits the sex-fueled material of his early career such as THE RACHEL PAPERS, DEAD BABIES, and SUCCESS. The political concerns of his recent writing have been, for the most part, jettisoned, and Amis`s famously prodigal prose devotes itself instead to the specific human experience of coming-of-age in the sexually liberated era of the 1970s. The protagonist of the novel, Keith Nearing, is a 20-year-old literary soul aspiring to be a libertine during a summer vacation with a group of friends at an Italian castle. Despite the new freedom of the age and Keith`s witty quips on literature and lust, sex is trickier in practice than in theory, and he finds his desires bent and twisted by the newly empowered bathing beauties tanning themselves poolside at the castle. In the novel`s inspired coda, Amis fast-forwards through the decades after the erotic summer, and shows how the aftereffects of moral revolution rippled out through his characters` lives. An admittedly autobiographical work, THE PREGNANT WIDOW vividly captures the hedonistic fevers of youth in the post-pill, pre-AIDS world, and also depicts those who burned up in its ravishing heat. Keith is damaged by his experiences, but his sister Violet--a clear stand-in for Amis`s own sister--dies from drink and dissolution. Comic, debauched, erudite, and ill-behaved--these are well-known early Amis traits, but THE PREGNANT WIDOW adds a melancholic wisdom to the mix, re-imagining the stories of his youth though the dark glass of time. Selected by Publishers Weekly as a 2010 Top 10 Book.
In a mountainside castle in Italy, during the long, hot summer of 1970, Keith Nearing struggles to twist feminism and women`s ascendency toward his own ends, leading him to actions that have repercussions that catch up to him in the 21st century. By the author of The Second Plane.

My male guppy asks like a pregnant female guppy?!?
he/she is a very light yellow with a yellow tail. She has been very fat, sits by the heater, and sometimes rests in the gravel. She/he has a like a half fan/ pointed a little bit anal fin. My male guppies seem to have a differnt fin a little bit more then she does. She was fat(or pregnant when i got her) but has not a single gravid spot. Is she male or female, she most likely has a different anal fin. Thanks
ps: oh, and if she is pregnant, how do i care for the fry and how do i do water changes with fry? i have ahang on breeder tank ready and fry food. But she has no grvd spot. Is he just in the early stages?
Hi,
Here's a site that will tell you how to tell male and female guppies apart:
If he/she is very faint yellow and fatter with a short tail, it is probably female. Long fins and tail with very distinct colors and it's male. Males are generally smaller than females comparatively. If she's female and if there is a male with her in the tank, she is pregnant, no doubt. That's just how guppies work. If she has been in a tank with a male at any point in her life she may be pregnant. A dark (not necessarily black but it will stand out), diamond-shaped gravid spot near the anal fin signifies that she is very close to having babies.
Fry should be kept away from parents otherwise they will be eaten. Be careful that the filter in the fry tank is not so strong that it can suck them up. (You may not have a filter, I don't know.) Gravel is not usually required for a fry tank because they can get stuck under it. Makes sure the tank is cycled and the water quality is similar to that of the main tank. Let the fry sit in a holding tank/jar for a time and gradually let them get accustomed to the new water over the course of an hour by adding maybe a jar of new water every 10-15 minutes. Water changes can be done as needed, but not overdone. As always, it depends on the size of the tank and number of fry + feeding times per day. Try and check your water every week/other week if possible. For water changes, you may consider using a jar and not a siphon so as to not suck up the fish. Fry are usually hardy and won't die off if you make a couple mistakes; don't become discouraged if a few do. Java moss can make a good addition to a fry tank since they like to hide in it. Feed them frozen baby brine shrimp (*baby* is very important - regular brine shrimp are good but not optimal) 2-3 times per day and not so much that it screws up the water quality but enough that they have some in there floating around for a little while.
Remember, that if your guppy IS NOT pregnant, the behavior may be a sign of stress. Observe it for a few days and see that he/she is doing alright. My personal "key theme" when it comes to the aquarium hobby is "everything in moderation". Fish a delicate but you learn as you go. Good luck!

I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant. Should I be gaining weight already?
I feel bloated, and am about 2 pounds heavier, and am just starting to loose my waist line. Is this water gain and should I be eating less? I only want to gain the minimum weight 25-30pounds. First pregnancy...
I was extremely bloated at 6 weeks. It was a never ending bloat. A lot of it had to do with the fact that I was extremely constipated. I'm now 9 weeks and have a bit of a little pooch without the constipation. I've gained 3 pounds since I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks. How much you gain really depends on what and how much you're eating and you're body type. You could be experiencing some water retention...it's pretty common. Just continue to watch your calorie intake. You don't want to under-eat, but you don't want to over-eat either.
Discusses the physical, emotional, and social challenges that can occur during pregnancy, from dealing with morning sickness and weight gain to feuding with one`s family over the baby`s name to suspecting that one`s husband is having an affair.

Then flip the entire calendar for weeks 23 to 42 on the back. Not only are the dates left to be filled in, but the days are, too. Reassuring tips and advice appear on every page.
