The phenomenon of bleeding has been shown to appear in up to 22% of all pregnancies and is associated with significant maternal and fetal morbidities, and even mortality. Although vaginal bleeding occurs mainly during the first trimester, it can appear at any stage of pregnancy and in the postpartum period. This sometimes life-threatening event requires an extensive work-up in order to recognize its cause and establish a rapid and effective therapeutic approach. This book is a comprehensive appraisal of this critical condition. It draws on evidence-based data and brings together, in a single volume, updated information on all aspects of pregnancy-related bleeding. A global group of interdisciplinary experts contributed chapters on: bleeding during early pregnancy (early pregnancy loss, ectopic pregnancy, gestational trophoblastic disease, and cancer of the reproductive tract during pregnancy); bleeding in late pregnancy (preterm delivery, placental abruption, placenta previa, vasa previa and uterine rupture); and postpartum hemorrhage.
In the only book that gives a mother something positive to do for her baby in the critical first trimester, Margie Profet, an award-winning scientist, details for the first time how pregnancy sickness improves the chances of having a healthy baby.Profet shows that pregnancy sickness is a highly evolved mechanism designed to shield the developing embryo from potentially harmful natural toxins found in many foods and beverages as well as in various other substances in the environment. By providing a comprehensive look at pregnancy sickness—what it is, how it works, how to manage it, and how to choose which foods to eat and which to avoid—this book offers both comfort and help to an expectant mother and essential protection for her developing baby. Pregnancy Sickness is the proactive guide to a healthy baby that every pregnant woman should read.

Info on pregnancy test kit box different than what I've been reading here/online - which is fact what is myth?
Hi first of all I am very sad bec I finally took a preg test after thinking I was preg and it came back neg I am surprised to find out. My question is that on the box it isays that it detects pregnancy by 99.8% accuracy 7 to 10 days after conception, and not ovulation like I had been here here on YA time and time again. Is that assuming that conception/ovulation are on the same day? Now i understand how tight the times of conception are, that it really must be on the exact day of ovulation. Is that correct? I won't believe any of the other 'sperm lives for 7 days' or 'you can get pregnant any day of the month' myths then, right?
Hi There
Well while its true that sperm can live for 7 days, you only get pregnant when you ovulate. So if you have sex and 7 days later you ovulate, you would not have gotten pregnant the day you have sex, you would have got preg the day your egg was released, and the sperm met the egg. You know?

This is the 3rd edition of a classic text which still represents the only multi-disciplinary approach to the evaluation and management of a high-risk pregnancy. Since most chapters are written by a 2-author team (an anesthesiologist and an obstetrician or fetologist), information will be efficiently formated, practical, and complete. Coverage will include causes of the health risk, pathophysiology, obstetric treatment written by an obstetrician, and anesthetic management written by an obstetric anesthesiologist. Chapters will include the latest procedures and most advanced technology. They will cover the parameters used to observe fetal well-being and deal with abnormal findings, regardless of the stage of development. Topics will extend through the delivery and post delivery periods.
