I am a labor doula and have been toying with the idea of starting a pregnancy support for local moms. I have a few questions out there for you pregnant women to help guide me in the right direction:
1) Is this something you think you would be interested in if there was one in your area?
2) What days/times would be best for you?
3) What topics/issues/concerns would you like to discuss?
4) where would be good places to advertise other than doctors/midwives offices?
I worked in BabiesRus for 4 years. I was a promotions coordinator for my store. We would often host free seminars and allow fliers to be put in our store.
If you have one near you call the manager and ask if you can give a seminar on what to expect from labor, or what to expect from pregnancy. You can put together a survey to hand out to the parents which should give you an idea of local concerns. It can also help you gather clientele.
They also have "Baby fests" a few times a year that you can get a free booth at to promote yourself and you group.

Is it common to show earlier in a second pregnancy?
I recently found out I am pregnant, probably no more than 4-5 weeks with my second child. It appears I am showing already because I have some rounding that looks like I am bloated (which I may be), but I wonder is it the pregnancy? How common is it to begin showing so early on in a second pregnancy? I don't think I am gaining weight from eating too much, I'm eating my normal amount and still exercising, so I just wondered if any of you had any thoughts on this or have experienced this also?
Both a friend and myself showed much earlier with our second pregnancies than with our first. How old is your first baby?? If it is still a toddler or younger (which was the case with both of us) you will show earlier b/c your body probably hasn't had time to fully return to normal. While it might seem like you are getting larger than you should be now it won't be like this thru the entire pregnancy. You should be right on by the time you are seven or eight months.

A question about pregnancy, x - rays, and airport security?
I am 12 weeks pregnant and in the process of moving across the country. I plan to fly instead of taking a 2 day drive because that would be too uncomfortable. I have an arm cast because I broke my arm a couple of weeks ago. I called ahead to the airline to let them know I was pregnant and had a broken arm and I was told that I would have to do a full body x - ray since I had a cast on to see if anything was hidden inside the cast. My question is how safe is this when you are pregnant, especially this early on.
Hi, as an x-ray tech I can tell you that getting any kind of x-ray exposure during pregnancy is dangerous and not a good idea. However, it is really the first trimester that you have to be adament about not getting exposure, because that is when the baby's cells are dividing most rapidly. Although still very dangerous, the second and third trimesters are safer. I cannot believe that the airport is making you receive radiation when you are pregnant, but then again I am sure they don't really care about your developing baby!! If there is no way around it, I guess you have to do it, but at least see if they can just scan your arm. Any unnecessary radiation to your abdomen is bad news. And it's crazy that people think that just because they got an x-ray and their baby turned out fine means that it's ok to get radiation when pregnant. Sometimes, the mutations don't show up until your baby has a baby.

Negative tests, dark urine?, yellow discharge?, pregnancy symptoms?
I am on b.c. but was taking anti-biotics and had unprotected sex. I had what seemed like implantation bleeding 12 days after sex. When my period was due (3 weeks ago) it was just spotting. I have taken many urine pregnancy tests (at home and at the dr.) as well as a blood test 1 1/2 weeks after my abnormal period. I have been having light cramping, nausea, dark yellow urine (no pain or itching though) and sometimes yellow, sometimes brown, sometimes white discharge at times and other symptoms of pregnancy. I'm not quite sure what time could mean. It has been 5 weeks since I had sex. 1 week after my "missed period" is when I had the negative urine and blood test. Is it possible that I'm pregnant? Or is this an infection? If so, what kind since there is no burning or itching?
My last regular period was 10 weeks ago
How much water do you drink? Dark urine would indicate that you are not drinking enough water. Try drinking 8 glasses during the course of the day and see if it lightens up. If not, then you probably should go to the doctor and see if you have a kidney infection. As for the discharge, I'd say maybe you're getting ready to start your period. BC can mess up your period as possibly the antibiotics. If you're concerned, then do another test in a week.
