And What Is The Most Fertile Time In My Cycle? Ovulation is the time at which a woman is most likely to conceive because it is the moment at which the egg is released from the egg sac and travels down the fallopian tube for possible insemination and fertilization.

This makes a conception calculator important if you are planning a family. It is important that a woman know when she is most likely to become pregnant, both for pregnancy prevention and to get pregnant if she so desires. There are several symptoms and signs of ovulation that should be taken into account when determining the right time to become pregnant.

The first is the cervical mucus test. Throughout most of the menstrual cycle, the mucus in the vagina is thick and cloudy—often a yellowish color. During ovulation, mucus is released from the cervix that is clear and stringy. It stretches between the fingers.

Some Help To Find Out When You Are Most Likely To Conceive . . .

Some women take a sampling of the vaginal mucus and when they find that the mucus has become clear and stringy, they use that day or days to become pregnant.  Such a cervical mucus change happens for only one or two days of the cycle.

Another uncommon sign of ovulation is known as Mittelschmirz pain.  This occurs when the egg is released from the egg sac along with a small amount of fluid and bleeding.  This extra fluid and bleeding hurts, resulting in pain on one side of the pelvis more than the other.  The pain lasts for up to a day and is a signal that ovulation is happening.

Some women use basal body temperature readings to determine when it is time for ovulation.  The basal body temperature is the temperature of the body of a woman in the morning before she gets out of bed.  It is basically the same temperature throughout the first half of the cycle and is on the low side.  At the point of ovulation, it can sometimes drop a quarter of a degree or so, signaling that ovulation has occurred.

After that, the progesterone from the corpus luteum is released, resulting in a temperature rise of up to a half of a degree from baseline.  This temperature change stays up for the entire half of the cycles and continues to be raised if a pregnancy has occurred.

Some women don’t want to go by any signs or symptoms of ovulation or they have such subtle symptoms, it is difficult to tell.  It is then when a woman goes by an ovulation calendar or an ovulation test kit.  In an ovulation calendar, you mark the days of the cycle, knowing that the time of ovulation is about 14 days before then next expected period or about day fourteen of a 28 day cycle.

An ovulation test kit can be used also when there are few signs or symptoms of ovulation.  It is a urine test kit that detects the level of luteinizing hormone in the system.  Luteinizing hormone is released 24-36 hours before ovulation and is one of the best ways to determine when ovulation is about to occur.
